With over 30 years of proven expertise, we offer pioneering, credible, science-based consultancy services, as well as hands-on contracting services. From natural capital mapping and virtual surveying to wetland restoration and woodland planting, Ecosulis has protected and enhanced biodiversity at sites right across the United Kingdom. With a head office in Oxford and regional offices in Birmingham, Cardiff and London, Ecosulis offers a complete range of ecological contracting and soft landscaping services. These encompass everything from river, pond and lake restoration, natural flood management techniques and wetland creation to wildflower seeding and management, tree planting and tree maintenance using traditional and natural regeneration techniques. In addition to our habitats work, Ecosulis is also pushing the boundaries of nature recovery thinking. The team boasts in-depth rewilding expertise and insight, offering services that encompass everything from visioning, design and management planning through to revenue streams and finance, communications and PR. Underlining our commitment to recovering wild nature, Ecosulis Managing Director Cain Blythe and Nature Recovery Lead Dr. Paul Jepson have recently co-authored a book on rewilding - titled "Rewilding: The Radical New Science of Ecological Recovery" - which was published in 2020 to widespread positive review. Employing a number of cutting-edge, proprietary tools, we also offer clients a wide range of biodiversity-related services, including biodiversity asset assessment, biodiversity measurement and biodiversity monitoring. Projects
Environment Agency, River Soar
Ecosulis were commissioned to produce Buildability reports of a Natural Flood Management Scheme (NFM). We then undertook the work on site, including the creation of wetland features such as new pools and reed-beds, floodplain bunds to slow the flow within the floodplain, and in-channel features such as leaky dams and woody barriers. These green engineering options hold back water flow and spread it onto the floodplain when river levels are high. This mitigates flood risk, whilst creating biodiversity-rich green spaces which support wildlife and connects local communities to wild nature.

Wild Towns, Gloucestershire Wildlife Trust
The Ecosulis Habitats team carried out a diverse range of habitat restoration work across Wild Towns sites in Gloucestershire. This included wildflower meadow seeding, woodland thinning, tree planting, woodland wildflower seeding, orchard restoration, installation of barn owl/bat boxes, and pond restoration. We also organised local community engagement events.
For added value, the biodiversity department are using our proprietary BQC tool to monitor changes in biodiversity following restoration. This will enable future decision making regarding land management and enable an accurate cost-benefit analysis of the restoration work.
Sandford Farm Country Park
Between 2016 and 2020 Ecosulis enhanced the mixed habitat of Sandford Farm Country Park through a variety of measures, creating opportunities for local wildlife and nature to flourish. Vegetation was cleared, ditches created, 6000 trees planted and 35,000 square metres of wildflower meadow planted. A number of wetland scrapes were also created to attract insects and birds. Further to these enhancements, Ecosulis have continued to support Taylor Wimpey with ongoing work to control invasive species such as Himalayan balsam along the Old River.
