Projects
Bishopsheath
Inscapes started onsite August 2018, The tennis court was broken up and the resulting stone used to create a base for the new irrigation tank and pump area. Piped drainage system was installed together with irrigation mains. Material from the newly excavated pond was used to soften the profile of areas of the site that had been poorly landscapes previously. Secondary drainage installed. All cultivated ready for turfing. The pond developed into a pond suitable for Koi Carp and required lining and fibreglassing.
Additional tree planting including a 10m Willow.
Cefn Druids FC - 3G Artificial Pitch
Cefn Druids AFC wanted to create a new £G pitch in order to provide the club with infrastructure to allow teams to train on the pitch throughout the week, working towards improving player development.
The team were required to work alongside a consultant on this project - Jonathan Smith, Geoturf consulting. The job required excavating the existing natural pitch to existing drainage system with new drains having to be installed.
The Opportunity for the community and other clubs to use the facility has been increased by the new 3G pitch.
UEFA Champions League Festival - Floating 3G Pitch
The UEFA champions league festival required a floating 3G pitch in Cardiff bay in June 2017.
Inscapes and Southwest Greens UK were tasked with installing the playing surface including a shock pad that would meet the standards required by the football teams.
The 3G pitch was heavily used throughout the 4 days with it being used from 8:30am - 11:30pm one day. The festival was huge success for the City ans left a lasting impression on everyone that visited and played on the pitch.
Ffos Las Racecourse
The work involved careful planning, accuracy and timing which all made a significant impact on the end result. For example, the work included sand slits to all areas of the racecourse, every lateral drain throughout the course was to be excavated to s specific depth, the surfaces has to be compacted and refilled/clean/reseeded. Dismantling and re-erecting fences, transporting materials to the deposition. The racecourse was then examined to make sure it was fit for racing with no surface stones.
Fabian Way Tree Planting
Inscapes has recently completed soft landscaping works at the new Swansea university campus on Fabian way. Swansea University's Bay Campus is being delivered on St. Modwen's 65 acre former BP Transit site in Neath Port Talbot on the eastern approach into Swansea and will have the distinction of being one of the few global universities with direct access onto a beach and its own seafront promenade. The Campus will provide academic, student accommodation and research space, the latter being in a series of agreements with international and national companies. Works at the university included the supply and planting of 2700 trees, 3500 tree whips and 2100 3 ltr shrubs. All planting was undertaken at the front of the university to screen the university from the Fabian Way traffic, neighbouring property and to meet with planning restrictions. All surrounding areas were then seeded with a mixture of wild flower and rye grass. The job took 12 weeks in total to complete.
Drainage at the Celtic Manor polo ground
The Celtic Manor Resort has been providing the venue for SIMEC Polo at the Manor for the last few years on an area of ground set up as the practice range for the 2010 Ryder Cup. Unfortunately the ground quickly became saturated and very soft, resulting in the Celtic Manor having to cancel the Polo event after a period of sustained wet weather in 2014. We met up with Jim McKenzie, the Director of Golf Courses and Estates Management, and we decided that the best way forward was to undertake a drainage scheme over the area of the Polo Field. We started by installing approx 300Lm of 150mm main drain and installed 2800Lm of 80mm of perforated lateral drains at 6m centres. The majority of the drains were installed at the end of last year and completed in April of this year. The drainage system has proved a great success by preventing any standing water over the winter period and firming the ground up at the same time. This resulted in two highly successful polo matches being staged at SIMEC Polo at the Manor on Saturday 13th June despite some heavy rainfall the night before the event. The idea is now to top dress the area and Sand Band it next year. We have also been in talks to extend the drainage scheme to the surrounding areas of the Polo field such as the Village area and Public viewing areas. We hope it will be a great success for the Celtic Manor and we look forward to a continued strong working relationship.
Repairing the lawn at Cardiff City Hall
The lawns at City Hall are re-turfed every year once winter wonderland is over. The area is first verti drained to remove any excess surface water prior to the removal of the existing turf. The turf that has died and lost all colour is then stripped off using out koro top field maker and disposed of offsite. The ground is then prepared ready for the installation of fresh turf. The turf is delivered in 1.2m wide rolls and installed using our New Holland T5 and purpose made turf layer. Roughly 5700m2 of turf is installed.
Penarth Learning Centre Amphitheatre
Penarth learning community is a key element in the Vale of Glamorgan Councils 21st century schools investment scheme provided by the Welsh Government and the Vale of Glamorgan Council under the Welsh Governments 21st century schools programme. Inscapes have recently designed and installed a new amphitheatre for the Penarth Learning community centre. We firstly had to design the amphitheatre in-house using auto desk eventer. Once the design was complete with the measurements the treated sleepers that were chosen for the job were delivered into our workshop where they were all cut down to size before being delivered to site for the construction of the amphitheatre. The segments were fixed and strapped across the back to keep them secure. The job took 5 days to complete overall.
