John O'Conner

John O'Conner Founder of  1940- 2020

The company was founded in 1969 by John O'Conner who, in his spare time, was carrying out some basic garden maintenance services. John was advised that Bedford GPO used a contractor for grass-cutting and took the decision to submit his own bid. He secured the contract and John O'Conner Grounds Maintenance was born. As a result of his enthusiasm, professionalism and commitment to delivering exceptional quality, John won more grounds maintenance contracts. He began targeting local authorities and the business grew steadily. In 1973, John employed his first member of staff and he continued to recruit additional personnel in order to meet the needs of his growing client base. John remains the company's Chairman and his passion for quality and customer service continues through the management team led by his son, Matt O?Conner.
