Testimonials

Muswell Hill Rear Garden

"Karat have just completed a complete renovation of the three sections of gardens at our house in North London to compliment the redevelopment of the Edwardian house itself. Jean-Paul and team worked diligently throughout what was a very challenging winter period (cold and wet) to achieve our dream ‘Japonesque’ garden. Always polite, on time and working to high quality standards within the agreed budget."

Outdoor Studio Garden, New Southgate

This city garden in New Southgate, North London was constructed in Spring 2020 during the first coronavirus lockdown in the UK.

The striking central path connects the studio to the main terrace area which is finished in Italian porcelain, creating an extended lounge space for Summer sun and outdoor dining in the evening.

Budget: £10,000.00

Fulham low maintenance garden

The original reclaimed York stone was relaid and incorporates a contemporary stylish contemporary slot drain.

The impressive.vertical green walls are complimented by the white render.

Stainless steel was powder coated to the same RAL colour as the frame on the glass extension, to create raised planting borders on the left and right of the garden.

Old London multi stock bricks create a raised bed at the back of the garden and provide a beautiful balance between contemporary and traditional materials.

Totteridge Family Garden

Completed: 10/02/2017
Location: Totteridge, London N20
Budget: £225,000.00

The garden at the rear of this impressively refurbished house in Totteridge N20 needed extensive landscaping works to convert it into this beautiful and useable family garden.

Extensive areas of Italian porcelain on the upper and lower terraces are connected by impressive stairs.

Large 600mm x 600mm porcelain tiles were used to create the patios
and main walkways through the garden. These tiles were chosen to match the interior tiles, providing a seamless feel to the space when the expansive sliding doors are open.

An outdoor kitchen was created to provide alfresco dining in the Summer months.

Generous planting beds border the upper patio and lawn and are edged with corten steel.

The planting consists of low grasses (Luzula Nivea), a mix of perennials and
shrubs that give all year interest e.g. Hydrangea Annabelle, Astrantia major 'Roma' (Masterwort), Salvia caradonna (Balkan clary) and Hemerocallis (Daylily).

An overgrown woodland in the lower section of the garden was reclaimed by thinning out and removing scrubland, creating a clearing in the centre where a wildflower meadow was planted.

Gravel paths, wind there way from the lower lawn through the woodland and back again to give all weather access to all parts of the garden.

Parsons Green Urban Garden

Completed: 06/12/2013
Location: Parsons Green, London SW6
Budget: £35,000.00

This garden in Parsons Green SW6

was given a modern and warm feel by
incorporating rendered retaining walls, capped with reclaimed London stock bricks to match the house.

To create a contrast to the large format porcelain tiles, decorative pebbles were used underneath the impressive cedar floating bench.

The up-lighters highlight the warm tones of the cedar bench above.  Lighting has also been installed at varyings heights throughout the raised beds, creating the possibility
of entertaining late on a Summer's evening.

The installation of a decorative cedar trellis along the garden boundaries, gives an additional degree of privacy.

Plants for the garden were chosen to provide all year colour as well as structure and the selection incorporates plants that grow to varying heights and shapes, with taller plants being positioned at the rear and lower mound forming specimens, such as Hebe, placed to overhang the brick capping.

Perennial flowers such as Salvia nemerosa and Dianthus (carnations) are dotted in between and offer a splash of colour in amongst the green.
