First circular residential building in Venlo with sustainable vertical greenery MobiPanel living wall
A stunning building stands out on the skyline of the Maaswaard neighbourhood in Venlo. The residential complex of 95 self-contained apartments is the city’s first circular residential building. The green facade is planted with seven different species of greenery across an area of 97m2 using Mobilane’s patented MobiPanel system.
MobiPanel was specially developed to make future-proof and sustainable building even more accessible. The green façade system was developed with circularity in mind; all components are therefore dismountable, remountable and recyclable.
VDG Warehouse Schiphol II opts for nature-inclusive building with MobiPanel green facades
VDG Property Development has recently joined forces with their own construction company Unibouw to develop the new VDG Warehouse Schiphol II. The new building is equipped with a total of 636.5 m2 of vertical greenery divided into two green walls with the MobiPanel system.
‘The area developer and the ambitions of the Schiphol Trade Park area set high requirements in the area of nature inclusiveness. For example, 95% of the end walls of the building had to be green upon completion,’ says Richard van Campen – project manager at Unibouw B.V.

With a total surface spanning 750 m2, the facades of the new distribution centre is greened with the latest generation vertical green from Mobilane.

Aldi Supermarket in Derbyshire installs green façade of 60 m2
Derbyshire’s brand new Aldi Supermarket, which spans 1,800 square metres, opened in April 2022. The new retail store provides 40 new jobs, servicing the local community. They’ve placed a green façade on their supermarket to contribute to a greener area.
Integration of more sustainability credentials and increased landscaping across the site were elements on the wish list of the Derby City Council’s Planning Control Committee. The planted green façade on the store blends into the local landscape with a MobiPanel wall of 60 square metres.
Health-conscious bicycle parking at a campus near Eindhoven
A new sustainable bicycle shed has been realised at this high-tech campus. The unique bicycle parking facility has a sedum roof and contributes to a green environment.
The bicycle parking facility, by ‘Klaver Fietsparkeren’, with its green roof, fits seamlessly into this. The bicycle parking facility is entirely built of recycled steel, has a length of 50 metres and offers accommodation to almost 300 bicycles.
The roof is covered with almost 500 square metres of sedum cassettes. The cassettes are fully recyclable, making them a circular green roof system.
New Brabantia headquarters has a sustainable eye-catcher with living green walls
The new headquarters of interior design brand Brabantia in Valkenswaard was recently completed. Several green living walls have been installed in the office, contributing to the company’s sustainable image. The entire office was built according to the BREEAM standard, designed by Gert Jan Kruijning of AA Architects.
The building’s skeleton is made entirely of wood. The green walls in the office bring in the more natural look and also provide many benefits such as oxygen production and an improved indoor climate.
ESSENZA HOME opts for a sustainable green façade
Interior and lifestyle brand ESSENZA HOME has moved into a new, completely renovated office in Bunnik in 2021. The new office is entirely sustainability-oriented. The Mobilane green façade at Essenza Home contributes to the company’s sustainability vision and provides a warm welcome for its retailers, customers, and staff.
The 10,000 plants are installed in modular cassettes and pixels attached to the profiles. All of the cassettes, pixels, and covers are made of a fire-retardant EPP (B-s2, d0). This material is light, UV-resistant, air-permeable (for good root growth), and fully recyclable.
The leafy solution to safe socialising in Wandsworth High Street: Green Screens
Wandsworth Council have been working closely with urban greening specialists Meristem Design. Combining safety and social distancing with nature and foliage for cleaner air and a healthier environment, wooden planters with ivy green screens now form a natural avenue along the way.
Early April 2021 saw the introduction of 100 linear metres of Green Screens, grown and supplied by Mobilane. Applauded for their ability to clean air from harmful pollutants (PM10s), the screens are already working hard as they span along the High Street to form a natural separation barrier.
Living wall flourishes at flagship Decathlon Ireland store
The living wall was installed and planted to a specific pattern on this flagship Dublin Decathlon store using numbered pre-planted cassettes to create the 4500-plant 100sqm display of contrasting green and gold Carex above the store’s signage.
This contributes to the building’s BREEAM sustainability certification alongside its solar panels that provide 20% of its total energy consumption. Maximising the number of planted options means more foliage and a more naturally pleasing visual impact on a building’s wall space, as well as the added biodiversity and air-purifying qualities plants bring.
Liverpool waterfront apartments enjoy softer, natural living wall
This 80sqm LivePanel living wall stands proud alongside the apartment block entrance and esplanade at this development in Sefton Street, Liverpool. With 3,600 individual plants including varieties of grasses, ivy and hardy shrubs in Euonymus and pachysandra, the plant choice allows a dense blanket with foliage and form interest and contrast. The wall is formed by the Mobilane LivePanel modular system. Exchangeable cassettes with slot apertures for rows of plants include a gutter profile with integral water reservoir, allowing the plants to enjoy a moist living environment through capillary action.
Living wall at Nottingham Trent University Music Centre
This 38sqm bespoke living wall takes majestic prominence on The Music Centre frontage at Nottingham Trent University. The plant choice encompasses a blend of foliage and flower in over 1700 individual plants including ivy (Hedera Helix) and Euonymus, grasses (Carex) and Pachysandra with the full visual impact of striking blue Campanula flowers in the summer.
The resulting living wall not only has a vertical green visual impact, the plants work hard improving air quality, encouraging biodiversity and help regulate the building temperature – with extra insulating and sound-dampening effects thrown in!
A green walk on the wild side in Woking with Mobilane Green Screens
Visitors to Woking High Street enjoy a natural walkway with the installation of a 75m living wall. The Mobilane Green Screens have been placed along the length of the Woking Train Station’s exterior wall as part of the Council’s green commitments.
With a mix of species for interest and colour, the wall will not only attract insects and wildlife to an otherwise grey and urban part of town, but the screens help to improve air quality, as foliage aids the trapping and capturing of harmful pollutants from passing traffic.
Green My School | Living Green Screens as pollution barriers
This primary school in the heart of London has a Mobilane Living Green Screen installation to improve air quality in the playground for pupils, staff, parents and visitors. The 25 m linear expanse of ivy screens, as part of the Green My School campaign, are watered by an automatic drip line irrigation system.
Customised planters fit the curved wall and the Green Screens provide a densely planted ivy living screen to act as first defence in the battle against air pollution from the high levels of traffic beyond its foliage.
Just Plants Bristol
The newly constructed blank wall gained LivePanel love at Proctor + Stevenson, a marketing and communications agency in Bristol, and now enjoys a simple blend of plants to add a welcoming sprinkle of nature in its reception area. The installation was completed in January 2018, taking a busy morning and a full day to install and plant up the panels. The wall structure itself was built from scratch so it was critical to work in harmony with a local carpenter, particularly as the wall would also incorporate a TV screen. A typical UK winter's day in January meant that the plants were acclimatised within a heated van prior to their planting -minimising any potential shock.
Auburn Gardens
The banked garden would host 9 screens, measured and customised by cutting into varying heights by the Auburn Gardens team, a Guernsey-based landscape and design build company headed by Jack. Jack and his team provide landscaping services across the island, with particular focus on green screens and environmentally-sustainable landscaping materials and products. Installed in mid August, the banked screens were installed within 5 days, including customising the planters and restructuring the garden bank itself. Due to the steep incline of the garden, the team had to reprofile the ground, completing all the soil excavations by hand for health and safety purposes. The posts this time had to be concreted in place to ensure ultimate stability to counteract the extremely strong winds experienced in the are. The planters were constructed around the screens to ensure the maximum volume of growing media for the healthy establishment and growth you would expect from Mobilane Green Screens.
