Liz Hughes

Liz Hughes started at Provender Nurseries in 2008 as a Sales Assistant.  With a passion for writing and generally talking about plants in all forms.  She particularly enjoys writing about and taking images of plants.  Liz is now the Marketing Manager and manages all aspects of social media, events on and off site, news and published articles for Provender Nurseries.   Liz particularly enjoys seeing what gardens are created by Provender Nurseries’ customers on social media. 

With a background spanning 34 years in many aspects of horticulture from garden centres, soft landscaping and maintenance Liz has a good all round background in horticulture.  Liz particularly enjoys working with colleges, students and their lecturers hosting and judging design competitions.  Liz has worked on many RHS show gardens at RHS Hampton Court and RHS Chelsea Flower Show over the years. 

Liking a challenge Liz has sailed across the Atlantic Ocean and helped to raise over £13,000 for Perennial with other BALI members in 2013 on the Three Peaks Extreme Challenge. 

With a BSc Honours in Horticulture Liz has a leaning towards tropical plants, exotic plants and anything unusual.  Liz’s interests include houseplants, reading, walking and pub lunches.  Liz is presently the South Thames BALI Regional Chair.
