26 Jun 2019 | BALI News

The first BALI Affiliates Forum of the year was held on Tuesday 25 June 2019 at BALI Landscape House with a successful turnout of over 35 BALI members.

The Forum provided members with three informative presentations from guest speakers along with vital industry discussions and key updates from BALI Vice Chairman Richard Kay who provided a brief update on the current position of the supply industry.

Members also received an update from BALI Chief Executive Wayne Grills about the association’s progress with parliamentarians, including extensive government lobbying. Wayne provided an update on work involving the All Party Parliamentary Gardening and Horticulture Group (APPGHG), Ornamental Horticulture Round Table Group (OHRTG), HRH Plant Health Steering Group, DEFRA Tree Health Policy Group, Oak Processionary Working Group, The Parks Alliance, and the EFRA Select Committee (House of Lords).

Wayne has also recently held important ministerial meetings with the Minister of State for Apprenticeships and Skills The Rt Hon Anne Milton MP, in relation to BALI GoLandscape, as well as the Minister of State for Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, Robert Goodwill MP, and Minister of State for Immigration The Rt Hon Caroline Oaks MP.

Guest speakers at the Affiliates Forum included Head of Technical Services and Operations Mark Harris of Radmat Building Products, Managing Director Chris Bridgman of Bridgman & Bridgman and Business Development Director – Specifications, Sean Robinson, of Polypipe. With presentations focused primarily on green roofing and training provisions available for installation and maintenance of green roofs, attendees were delighted with the subject matter and took part in key discussions over the course of the day.

The event also provided an opportunity for BALI to remind members about their membership benefits, including the Use of the Registered logo, using the Use the Professionals leaflets, updating their marketing preferences, submitting editorial content for BALI publications, entering the BALI National Landscape Awards and highlighting the many sponsorship opportunities available.

Following the successful presentations, members took the opportunity to network with other BALI members in attendance as well. Please visit BALI’s events calendar to see what other events are coming up this year.
