Celebrating one year of protecting landscaping professionals and businesses
The CSCS Smart Check API, which is designed to streamline the checking and validation of LISS/CSCS SmartCards, is proudly celebrating one year of operation.
The CSCS Smart Check API provides assurances that over two million UK workers across construction, landscaping and the built environment are trained and qualified for the job they do.
Since its introduction, the API has revolutionised many business’ site access systems. Employers, contractors and the like can use it to verify worker credentials, certifications and qualifications in an instant via three easy to use methods – integration into an existing website or card checking equipment, the CSCS Smart Check website, and/or the mobile app. This can be done as simply and quickly as scanning a worker’s card.
During the first year the API has seen over 29 million scans integrated into site systems like turnstiles, 1.1 million scans made via CSCSSmartCheck.co.uk and the mobile app, 22 licensed IT Partners implementing the API into companies’ access systems, and 93 organisations utilising the API daily across construction and the built environment.
CSCS Smart Check remains the only platform capable of verifying all 2.2 million CSCS-logoed cards, ensuring the right qualifications and preventing fraud on site.
What is LISS/CSCS?
LISS/CSCS is both a standalone scheme and a mandatory requirement of the National Highways Sector Scheme 18 (land-based) recognised by Build UK. It is designed to support the development of an industry framework for skills development and progression in the workplace alongside CSCS.
This is achieved through a SmartCard scheme.
To apply for any fully operational SmartCard you must successfully pass the ROLO Health, Safety and Environmental Awareness Course and CITB Touch Screen Test, appropriate to the SmartCard level.
As a champion for the landscape industry, BALI can help. Individuals and businesses can come to BALI to apply for LISS/CSCS cards, as well as contact us for advice and troubleshooting.
