Defra introducing changes to OPM management zones
15 Feb 2023 | Technical News
Later this year the Department for Environment Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) will introduce changes to existing Oak Processionary Moth (OPM) management zones and the permitted movement of ‘large’ oak trees (large = girth at 1.2m above the root collar of >8cm) within these management zones.
Defra also intends to bring in new regulations during May/June 2023 which will permit the movement of large oak trees within the OPM Buffer Zone and Established Area, provided specific biosecurity and movement measures are met.
The Association will advise members when the updated zones and boundaries are announced in March 2023.
