Double triumph for Ground Control with BALI Award wins
BALI Registered Contractor Ground Control, the UK’s fastest growing external maintenance and commercial landscaping company, has been announced as winners in two categories in this year’s BALI National Landscape Awards: Regeneration Scheme over £500k and Community and Schools Development. This latest victory takes the company’s running total to an impressive 33 BALI Awards to date.
Each year the British Association of Landscape Industries (BALI) award companies who display exemplary levels of professionalism, workmanship and client satisfaction in the landscape industry.
Needless to say, these two prestigious awards from BALI represent the great success achieved by Ground Control. The awards were presented to them for the completion of landscape construction at recent projects; Elephant Park in London and Calverley Adventure Grounds in Tunbridge Wells.
This year, Ground Control is among 67 BALI members to be announced as award winners in these prestigious awards. Celebrating victories in two categories, Ground Control has further emphasised its success as an industry leader.
2014 marked the beginning of the £2.3billion regeneration project of the Elephant and Castle area, of which Ground Control was enlisted to develop a new community park. The new Elephant Park is now the largest new green space in Central London for seventy years, vastly supporting the sustainability goals of the wider regeneration project alongside greatly improving the quality of life of the surrounding community.
Ground Control’s second award, the winning entry in the Community and Schools Development category, was for the Calverley Adventure Grounds in Kent. This project was initiated by the commitment of the local community in a bid to improve a disused and dilapidated area of the historic Calverley Grounds. Volunteers were passionate about the project and raised money through local fundraising events and sourcing sponsorships from local businesses and trusts.
Ground Control’s Managing Director, Marcus Watson, commented;
“What an honour to add more BALI National Landscape Awards to our collection! We are delighted to have achieved this recognition for both Elephant Park and Calverley Adventure Grounds; showcasing the high quality we deliver to our customers each and every day. They are both excellently executed projects. Very well done to all.”
BALI’s Chief Executive, Wayne Grills, added;
“The standard of entries this year has been really spectacular. Our members have delivered on a grand scale. They have used the latest techniques, technology and materials to push the boundaries in terms of solving the design, construction and maintenance challenges presented by budget constraints and climatic conditions.”
BBC Breakfast anchor and sports journalist Dan Walker will host the awards ceremony at the Grosvenor House, Park Lane, London on Friday 7th December where the winners of the Principal and Special Awards, and the coveted Grand Award, will be announced.
