Benefits

Driving for Better Business, which is run by National Highways, says these resources could help businesses to:

  • Reduce costs
  • Improve operating conditions
  • Ensure safe and legal vehicles
  • Promote wellbeing for drivers

Businesses that have implemented the Driving for Better Business initiative recommendations have said they benefit from lower insurance premiums, enhanced reputation, and more efficient fleet management too.

The initiative suggests there has been an increase in roadside stops for vans, with an average fine per offence in the region of almost £1000.

Furthermore, two-thirds of vans stopped recently by the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) had serious mechanical defects, with:

  • 40% of vans inspected being prohibited from continuing their journey
  • Half of all new vans failing their MOT on the first attempt

With more than 4 million vans registered in the UK, it is therefore vital that businesses are ensuring they are on top of compliance to avoid costly errors.

Landscaping

BALI knows that vans are an essential part of many landscaping businesses, but they are not always given the attention they deserve.

We are strategic partners of the Driving for Better Business initiative and will continue to help promote these important messages to the industry.
