Go Landscape – June Update
Wiltshire College Careers Fair – 17 June
Jonathan Pettit and Cheryl Ranner from GoLandscape attended the Wiltshire College Careers Fair at the Lackham college campus. Supported by Johnstone Landscapes, the team talked to students at the college about their Free BALI membership, as well as other students from local schools to talk about careers and opportunities in the Landscaping Industry.
It was also a great opportunity to meet other industry organisations and discuss opportunities for joint working to promote industry skills and careers.
Chelmsford Skills Festival – 27 June
The GoLandscape team were at the annual Chelmsford Skills Festival on the 27th June alongside members Oak View Landscapes held in the grounds of Writtle College. The event was attended by over 1200 year 8 students from 7 Chelmsford Schools. The festival offers the students the opportunity to take part in some hands-on interactive activities.
We met 300 young people and we were grateful for the support from Oakview Landscapes who were on hand to show pupils how to lay paving, use a laser level and offer the chance to hop on a 360 digger!
We also had the opportunity to promote GoLandscape and the work BALI is doing to promote skills and careers with skills ambassadors, STEM skills ambassadors, Chelmsford City Council and ARU/Writtle College colleagues.
Apprenticeship Trailblazer Groups
BALI has been an active supporter of the Landscape and Horticulture Apprenticeship Trailblazer Group and we were delighted that BALI Chalk fund was able to contribute to industry funding to ensure the Group can continue its work in promoting and improving the Apprenticeship standard.
