GoLandscape - May update

The GoLandscape team - Jonathan Pettit and Cheryl Ranner - along with GoLandscape ambassadors have been busy during May supporting careers days and attending the prestigious RHS Chelsea.

Grow Careers Day – North

Richard Kay from the BALI Chalk Fund attended the Chartered Institute of Horticulture Grow Careers Day North on 24 May. It was a fantastic event with over 150 ticket holders visiting to talk about Landscaping and Horticulture careers. Many visited from horticultural colleges such as Askham Bryan and Craven College. Over 50% of the attendees were career changers who were looking to re-train into horticulture/landscaping.

Sparsholt College at RHS Chelsea

BALI Training Provider members Sparsholt College unveiled their garden at RHS Chelsea. “Plants Routes & Branches” it was designed by multiple award winning team Chris Bird and Lucy Lewis, and built by L3 Horticulture students it celebrates Sparsholt Colleges 125th Anniversary of Horticultural Training. The garden won a Silver-gilt medal.

Lucy Lewis, Horticulture Lecturer at Sparsholt College, said:

“Plants, routes and branches is about celebrating 125 years of education at Sparsholt, influential horticulturalists and all the plants that they’ve bred and what exciting careers paths our students may take in the future.”

GoLandscape at RHS Chelsea

BALI took part in the RHS Young Persons’ Breakfast meeting at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show on 27 May.  Wayne Grills and Jonathan Pettit welcomed BALI Student of the Year winners and nominees to the event. The team took them on a tour of the gardens which included BALI Chalk Fund’s Garden Design Student of the Year Lucy Mitchell’s Gold Medal winning Changing Tides container garden.

Wiltshire College Careers Fair, 17 June 2024

GoLandscape will be attending alongside Accredited Contractor Johnstone Landscapes to talk to students about career opportunities in the area.

Chelmsford Skills Festival, 27 June 2024

Go Landscape will be at the festival supported by Accredited Contractor Oak View Landscapes to showcase landscaping careers to over 1500 local school children.
