Green-tech supplies tree-planting materials to create a canine-friendly 30-acre woodland
IndiWoods Ltd, a woodland consultancy based in Co Armagh, collaborates with farmers and landowners across Northern Ireland to promote the planting of native woodlands. Under the leadership of Carolyn Trimble, with over 20 years of expertise in native woodland creation spanning Northern England and Northern Ireland, the team takes pride in having planted over 2 million native trees.
One notable project by IndiWoods was the transformation of a 12-hectare agricultural plot on the outskirts of Banbridge, Co Down, into the impressive Beechgrove Doggy Wood. This native woodland extension, adjacent to the successful Doggy Fun Park, features 30 acres of woodland trails and expansive areas for exploration, providing an enjoyable environment for dogs.
As a loyal customer of Accredited Supplier, Green-tech since 2006, IndiWoods invested in approximately 22,000 Tubex Easywrap Tree Shelters and canes to safeguard the newly planted trees from rabbits and hares. The Tubex Easywrap, a polypropylene tree wrap, is recyclable and ideal for plants requiring lateral growth. It expands as the tree grows, enabling sideward development while retaining moisture and heat. This protective wrap shields the plants from small animals and chemical sprays, thereby enhancing survival rates.
Beechgrove Doggy Wood not only offers woodland trails and vast exploration areas but also presents an opportunity for dog lovers to sponsor a tree for life, dedicated to their beloved pets. The project stands as a testament to IndiWoods' commitment to native woodland conservation and creating spaces that harmonize with both nature and community interests.
Carolyn comments:
“I am passionate about encouraging native woodland planting throughout Northern Ireland and have worked with Green-tech for almost two decades to fulfil my requirements for tree planting and protection materials. Their customer service is excellent, and they always deliver what I need, when I need it, so I would happily recommend them. The owners of Beechgrove Doggy Wood are delighted with their woodland, and I loved being involved in it. We used native species to help strengthen and diversify the local ecosystem and I am thrilled with how well it has been received.”
