Green-tech supports RHS Back to Nature Garden

03 Jul 2019 | BALI Member News

BALI Registered Affiliate member Green-tech has donated materials for the RHS Back to Nature garden; this year’s feature garden at RHS Hampton Court Palace Garden Festival which runs from July 1-7.

HRH The Duchess of Cambridge has co-designed the garden with award-winning landscape architects, Andrée Davies and Adam White of Chartered Landscape Architects, Davies White Ltd.

The 297 sqm woodland-themed feature garden follows a design debut from the Duchess at this year’s Chelsea Flower Show. The RHS Back to Nature Garden will be redesigned for visitors to enjoy at Hampton Court Palace Garden Festival before finding a home as a permanent children’s’ garden at RHS Garden Wisley in Surrey.

Davies White Ltd are a double RHS Gold Medal, BBC People’s Choice Award and RHS Best in Show award winning Chartered Landscape Architects practice. Based in Kingston-upon-Thames they have reputation for innovative solutions. Their mission is to create gardens and public spaces that help reconnect children and their families with nature, making them an excellent choice for partnering with the HRH The Duchess of Cambridge on the design.

The garden was brought to life and constructed by Jake Catling and his team from the multi award winning landscape company, The Landscaping Consultants ltd. Jake worked closely with Green-tech to specify products and arrange haulage. Green-tech donated pond underlay and pond liner from their FLP brand, one of the largest online retailers of pond liners and geotextiles in the industry; bulk bags of hogging (self-binding gravel for pathways) and woodland bark mulch.

Green-tech’s Chairman Richard Kay comments,

“The gardens that are designed and installed at these high profile shows and events are so inspirational and help to enthuse others and raise standards as well as bringing pleasure to the visitors. I am delighted to see HRH The Duchess of Cambridge raising the profile of green spaces; her involvement is fantastic for the industry. I was thrilled to be asked to help with this feature garden; Green-tech has always been a staunch supporter of the RHS so it was a pleasure to assist.”

Jake Catling from The Landscaping Consultants said,

“Green-tech’s assistance is much appreciated.  These things always take a big team effort and we’re grateful to Green-tech for their donation and support. Without this type of help, these gardens wouldn’t be possible.”

Adam White FLI PLI, Co-Director of Davies White Ltd and President and Fellow of the Landscape Institute continues,

“Following the success of the RHS garden at RHS Chelsea, Andrèe and I were honoured to be asked to design the next RHS Back to Nature Garden at RHS Hampton Court Palace Garden Festival with HRH The Duchess of Cambridge. We’d like to thank Jake Catling and his crew from The Landscaping Consultants along with all the garden supporters which include Richard Kay and his team at Green-tech for helping create a new and original RHS Back to Nature garden at RHS Hampton.”
