Accredited Designer James Scott and his team at The Garden Company have been awarded a prestigious Highly Commended Award by Homes and Gardens in the Large Garden Design category. The Homes & Gardens Design Awards focus on recognising excellence and celebrating the very best in design and decoration. This year's judging panel included industry stalwarts Kit Kemp, Lulu Lytle, Bernie de Le Cuona, Charu Gandhi, Sebastian Cox and Russell Pinch alongside Sarah Spiteri and Lucy Searle from Homes & Gardens. The panel was looking for ‘standout design and excellent style from around the world, in order to showcase industry leaders’.

James commented:

"We are absolutely delighted that Homes and Gardens has recognised our design capabilities with this Award.  At The Garden Company, we believe in the transformative quality of great garden design.  We constantly seek to bring enduring value to our clients’ lives through the creation of unique outside spaces. This was a particularly enjoyable design-and-build project and we send special thanks of course to our amazing suppliers and our own talented landscapers".

The winning project in Sarratt, Hertfordshire, transformed a vast outside space into cherished outdoor havens for James’s clients. The homeowners were midst renovating their elegant Georgian property when they first discussed their garden dreams with James - and they were keen to reflect the quality finish they were painstakingly achieving inside their home across their five-acre garden. James’s design solution included the installation of a large swimming pool and pool house, traditional greenhouse, pergola and bold lighting scheme. In addition, James proposed the renovation of a large Georgian wall, sensitive new landscaping and five acres of abundant planting. This included interesting topiary and vibrant hues to give colour and interest all year round. Deep terracing along the property’s southern elevation was created to give the family sweeping views of the Chess Valley during the day and glorious sunsets in the evening.
