This December, Accredited Supplier, John O’Conner Grounds Maintenance, a family-owned business based in Welwyn, Hertfordshire, is proud to celebrate its 55th anniversary. To mark this significant milestone, Managing Director Matt O’Conner has decided to give back to the community by donating 55 Christmas Hamper bags to a local church; and they will distribute to the less privileged via a food bank.

The chosen charity is Oxlease Methodist Church, which has strong ties with the local community. Matt’s friend, Patriciah Mchemwa, is one of the parishioners, making it a natural choice for this generous gesture. The hamper bags are filled with Christmas cheer, including Christmas Crackers, Mince Pies, Christmas Pudding, Chocolates, and various items for the Christmas table.

Matt O’Conner shared,

“John (John O’Conner) always liked to take care of the staff at Christmas. When we were a small company, he would buy a Christmas turkey for everyone. Over the years, this tradition has evolved into a Christmas bonus. Providing hampers seemed like the perfect way to mark our 55th anniversary.”

The presentation of the hamper bags will take place on December 15, where Matt will personally hand them over to Reverend Rosemary Mutopo.

Reverend Mutopo expressed her gratitude, saying,

“We are incredibly thankful for this generous donation. It will bring joy and support to many families in our community during the festive season.”

As the company reflects on 55 years of growth and success, this gesture highlights its enduring values of generosity, family, and community
