Johnsons of Whixley revamps grounds of global wholesaler

07 May 2019 | BALI Member News

BALI Registered Affiliate member Johnsons of Whixley, one of the UK’s leading commercial nurseries, has teamed up with Sheffield firm Spa Landscaping Ltd to enhance the grounds of the Leicester Costco site.

Johnsons supplied plants worth more than £9,000 to the scheme, including 345 5L Carpinus Betulus and 100 10L Grisellina Littoralis that were used for hedging. A further 1,000 shrubs and seven Tilla Cordata ‘Greenspire’ rootball trees were included in the supply.

Works completed by Spa Landscaping included topsoil amelioration and installation, soft landscaping and tree planting. The company has worked on seven of Costco’s UK sites since 2016.

Andrew Barker, amenity sales rep at Johnsons, said:

“It’s great to see our plants used to enhance the grounds of a global retail store. Spa Landscaping has done a fantastic job, it’s no wonder Costco have used it time and time again to help beautify their grounds.”

Costco is one of the best-known names in trade retailing, with 770 shops worldwide and 28 in the UK.

Alex Anthony, Managing Director of Spa Landscaping, said:

“For the past three years we have developed and maintained many sites for Costco across the UK. The professional finish and quick turnaround times we provide wouldn’t be possible without our trusted suppliers, which is why we work closely with the team at Johnsons of Whixley. We can trust that they will deliver quality stock, on time, this allows us to carry out our work with no hold-ups.”
