Professional nurserymen and BALI Registered Affiliate member Johnsons of Whixley have supplied plants worth more than £75,000 for an award-winning holiday development close to the glorious beach at Bude, Cornwall.

Johnsons supplied plants to Darwin Escapes for the modernisation of the company’s Sandymouth Holiday Resort, over a period of six months.

The supply included 9,000 shrubs and 8,000 hedging transplants, along with hundreds of herbaceous plants.

The Sandymouth resort recently underwent a substantial modernisation process, resulting in facilities being extensively updated alongside the introduction of a Go Active programme offering family friendly activities.

The complex has won the Family Fun Cornwall category in the prestigious Hoseasons Annual Awards. It includes a choice of luxury holiday lodges and static caravans, an on-site restaurant, swimming pool and an outdoor gym.

Sandymouth was a recent winner in the the Relax and Explore Cornwall category at the 2018 Hoseasons Awards.

Ellie Richardson, Johnsons of Whixley’s marketing co-ordinator, said: “It’s wonderful to be involved with another Darwin Escapes project.

“Another Darwin Escapes resort we worked on in 2016 won ‘Best Large Park in Britain’ at the 2017 Hoseasons Annual Awards and it was great to be associated with this. We also recently supplied plants for the company’s Norfolk Woods Resort & Spa, which is noted for its luxury and high standards.”

Johnsons of Whixley, based between York and Harrogate spanning 150 acres of land, is one of the UK’s largest and longest-established commercial nurseries.
