BALI attend Land-Based & Environment Learner of the year awards 2024
On Thursday 21st November Wayne Grills, Jonathan Pettit and Cheryl Ranner attended the annual Land-Based & Environment Learner of the year awards 2024 at the National Conference Centre in Birmingham. The event recognises exceptional talent and achievements across various fields within the land-based and environment sector, including agriculture, landscaping and horticulture, forestry and arboriculture, and more. The ceremony celebrated the success of learners in higher and further education, as well as those completing apprenticeships.
The awards were presented by Danny Clarke, the celebrity garden designer known as the Black Gardener, who himself made a career shift from sales to horticulture and garden design. Danny shared his inspiring journey, highlighting how a key individual played a pivotal role in his decision to change careers. He recounted how his path in garden design evolved from studying at Hadlow College as a mature student to showcasing his work at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show, where he earned a Silver-gilt Medal for the ‘Hands Off Mangrove’ Garden in 2022.
