Members' delight at clay pigeon shooting event
On Tuesday 27 August 2019, the BALI North Thames committee hosted their annual Clay Pigeon Shooting event at the Hertford Clay Pigeon Shooting Club. With over 15 BALI members in attendance, the afternoon was a real success with positive lasting impressions on those that partook. BALI's National Chairman and Managing Director of John O'Conner Grounds Maintenance, Matt O’Conner, said:
A great event, it’s the perfect opportunity to network with BALI members. I look forward to next year!
Will Innes Taylor of BALI Registered Tim Wells Nurseries, commented:
A well-attended event by all aspects of the trade.
The two-hour event allowed members to demonstrate their clay pigeon shooting skills alongside expert guidance from qualified CPSA Clay Pigeon Shooting Instructors from the Lea Valley Shooting Association.
BALI Registered Contractor Dagenham Landscapes were the victors, scoring the highest amount of points and taking home the trophy. Pictured below, Jack Mitchell being presented with the trophy by BALI North Thames Chairman Darren Skidmore of Skidmores of Hertford.
Garden designer Emma Austin, who is not currently a BALI member, also attended the event and said:
The instructors were well organised, professional and friendly. Relaxing event in an informal environment, everyone was welcoming and friendly. BALI events are a great way to make friends, get to know each other and support each other in the industry. The more events you go to the more you get out of it! Don’t rely on other people to do the networking for you - be responsible for your own growth. Having never done Clay Pigeon shooting before, I found it enjoyable and encouraging. I would definitely do it again.
All equipment, including suitable shotguns, cartridges and ear defenders were provided on the day and members, both with beginner knowledge and more advanced skills, tried their hand at tracking the clay targets.
A special thank you to both Darren Skidmore and BALI's Regional Support Officer Shinade Kaur for organising.
