What is Grafter?

When you need extra labour, add your project to search the database of local grafters. You can then review profiles, contact them via the integrated messaging service and choose the ones you’d like to hire. It’s that simple. 

Is it a bit like Rated People, My Builder or a job board? 

In a word, no. Grafter provides workers to a range of businesses across sectors such as landscaping & gardening, construction & building.   Rated People and My Builder are both services that offer trades people to home owners. It works in a different way to a job board as Grafter proactively contact all ‘grafters’ that meet your criteria and they respond whether they are interested and available for the job. They also take care of the necessary paperwork.

How did Grafter come about?

Founder Tom Cape came up with the idea for Grafter when he couldn’t find available local labour to move some screed on a building project. Together with Grafter’s other founder Richard Knight, they decided to put their years of experience in tech and property development to good use and launched Grafter.

How exactly do I use Grafter?

There are five simple steps to follow when using Grafter:

1. Search for local grafters

2. Review profiles of available workers

3. Book via a simple contract

4. Make a cashless payment once the jobs done

5. Rate and review the grafter(s)

That way you benefit with automated micro insurance, contracts, secure online payment, and invoicing.

Do I pay anything to use Grafter?

There’s no sign-up fee to use Grafter and no upfront payment.  You as the employer set the amount you are prepared to pay and the available grafters choose whether to accept it. The grafter receives 100% of the agreed rate when the job is completed through a simple in-app authorisation with the payment straight from your chosen payment method.  Grafter charges 10% + VAT of the amount paid to the grafter to cover use of its service including insurance, bank fees and admin. It's a lot cheaper than traditional agencies and enables you easily manage the process in the app.
