Nieuwkoop Europe adopts rainforest in Costa Rica

05 Jun 2019 | BALI Member News

Our tropical rainforests are disappearing rapidly. This is resulting in a huge loss of biodiversity, from small insects to the majestic jaguar, and even animals and plants that we have not even heard of! In cooperation with the Work with Nature foundation, Registered Affiliate member Nieuwkoop Europe therefore held a special promotion. For every plant sold in May, Nieuwkoop Europe donated 50 euro cents to the foundation.

The rainforests in Costa Rica have an enormous biodiversity of flora and fauna and form one of the most beautiful and unique places in the world. It is essential that we protect them for our present and future generations. The Work with Nature foundation is committed to protecting the rainforests in Costa Rica. They do this by buying and protecting square metres of rainforest.

Costa Rica owes its enormous biodiversity to different ecosystems.

‘This rich climate enables us to cultivate a beautiful and varied range of indoor plants at our production locations. That is why we are committed to protecting the country’s beautiful nature. We are proud that we have been able to adopt 4000 m2 of rainforest’

says Henk Nieuwkoop of Nieuwkoop Europe.

Since its formation in 2011, the Work with Nature foundation has managed to protect over 70 hectares of rainforest. The aim is to protect 2,000 hectares in 10 years’ time, which is equal to the size of the jaguar’s territory.
