North Thames kicks off 2024 Regional AGMs
The North Thames region experienced a successful start to the year with its inaugural event held yesterday, featuring prominent speakers and insightful discussions. The event aimed at bringing together members of the Association, fostering engagement, and providing valuable insights into the horticultural world.
The afternoon commenced with a captivating talk by BALI Equity Ambassador, Ashley Edwards, and the Head Gardener of Horatio’s Garden. Ashley delved into the fascinating details of the planting and establishment of Horatio's Garden London & South East at The Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital Stanmore. The audience was treated to an in-depth exploration of the Tom Stuart-Smith design features, the day-to-day management of the garden, and the profoundly positive impact it has on patients and their loved ones.
Ashley also took the opportunity to share his personal journey into the horticultural world, shedding light on the challenges he faced and expressing his unwavering passion for the field. His inspiring narrative resonated with attendees, emphasising the significance of horticulture and its transformative potential.
The Regional AGM followed the engaging talk, providing a platform for members to actively participate in discussions about the Association's progress and future initiatives. A highlight of the AGM was a presentation on member engagement, which covered valuable insights into what BALI offers members as part of their membership.
The event served as a positive kick-start to the year, showcasing the North Thames region's commitment to fostering a sense of community among its members. Attendees left the event with a renewed enthusiasm for the horticultural industry and a deeper understanding of the association's role in supporting their professional growth.
Fran Bienek, Regional Support Officer commented:
This has been a fantastic start to the regional events this year for the North Thames AGM at Writtle University College - a great opportunity for both members and students to have insight into the legacy of Horatios Gardens as well as hear about Ashley Edwards inspiring career journey. The membership engagement discussion gave members insight into the recent membership survey results, and opened a positive discussion on why members join BALI, as well as suggestions for future improvements. I look forward to building on this conversation at future Regional AGMs.
The Regional AGMs serve as a fantastic opportunity for members to get involved and engage in a discussion about the future of the region, but also engage with fellow members and builder deeper professional relationships.
