Order issued to control the movement of spruce material

Following identification of a breeding population of the eight-toothed spruce bark beetle (Ips typographus) in the UK during 2018, the Plant Health (lps typographus) (England) Order 2019 came into force on 16th January 2019 and was revised on 29th January 2019.

The Order applies to the movement of spruce material (which includes live trees over 3 metres tall as well as wood with bark and isolated bark) that has originated within the demarcated area highlighted on the link below:

Plant health inspectors can authorise movements of material where this can be achieved without the risk of spreading the beetle.  The full details of the order may be reviewed at the following link:
