Out and about with Technical Officer Owen Baker

I have been lucky enough to attend two great events this week. 

The first was a soft landscape workshop, hosted by Palmstead nurseries.  Nick Coslett and his team arranged for a selection of great talks from a range of respected industry leaders, from design and technical perspectives.  Nigel Dunnett shared his experiences from working on the Barbican roof gardens, whilst Laura Gatti discussed the ‘Bosco Verticale’ in Milan.  From a technical perspective, Tim O’Hare shared his insights on soils on podium landscapes, Dr Louisa Boyer discussed the role of Mycorrhiza in soils, and Professor Nicola Spence, the Chief Plant Health Officer, updated the audience on the current range of pests and diseases.  In addition, the event was supported by a range of trade stands. On the BALI stand, I thoroughly enjoyed engaging with existing members, and meeting new people in the industry.  The audience was very diverse, but everyone I spoke to thoroughly enjoyed the day.
