RHS show season kicks off
RHS Malvern Spring Festival
BALI Accredited contactors are celebrating after medals were awarded for their show gardens.
Accredited Contractor Graduate Gardeners celebrated three awards – Best Show Garden, Best Construction and a Gold medal – a fitting start to the company’s 50th anniversary celebration. Designed by Designer and Project Manager Mark Draper, The Cotswold Garden used Cotswold stone walling as a backdrop and main framework to the design, which is inspired by Cotswold gardens and landscapes. These elements provide two defined areas for dining and relaxing, providing a usable and relaxing space for the family.
Also winning a Gold medal, new BALI Accredited Contractor MJL Garden Design created the It Doesn’t Have to Cost the Earth garden. Designed by Michael Lote, like real gardens in many housing developments around the UK, the garden explores the need to reinstate habitats for wildlife, impacted by property construction. Deep pigments and earthy tones of the planting echo the contemporary and reclaimed materials used in the garden, and inspired by nature. These muted shades are interspersed with vibrant colour to encourage birds and insects to visit the garden.
Accredited Contractor Oxford Garden Design & Maintenance created Feature Garden The Secret Escape. A garden open to visitors, Access to the garden is via the ‘Disco Polytunnel’, a semi opaque structure, filled with lush greenery. A disco ball and a DJ playing music, creates a dance floor surrounded by nature. An old, weathered boat becomes a stage for live performances, and a rustic horsebox is converted into a stylish bar. All around is cosy seating, for visitors to enjoy their drinks in the tranquillity of nature. The surrounding edge of the grove is wilder, with native plants and hedgerow planting forming a natural boundary. Deeper into the grove, is more curated planting, with burst of colours and vibrant hues. The space intertwines nature’s wonders with human creativity to build a fun, immersive experience for visitors.
With a successful start to show season, all eyes now move to RHS Chelsea Flower Show, which opens on Monday 20 May.
RHS Chelsea Flower Show
We are delighted that members of the team from the British Association of Landscape Industries will be at RHS Chelsea Flower Show 20 – 25 May representing the Association.
The Association will be unveiling a new look stand designed to help raise awareness to the importance of using Accredited professionals, to promote how the public can find an Association member near them, to highlight the work of our members, promote career opportunities available with GoLandscape and to aid with general enquiries.
The team can be found on trade stand number EAE519 and we would love to speak to Association members at the show. Please tag the Association in your social posts too and we would very much like to support and share across our channels.
