The Garden Company shortlisted for two SGD Awards
The Garden Company Ltd - BALI Registered Member and Registered Practice of the SGD - has been shortlisted for two highly-respected national design awards. Now in their seventh year, the SGD Awards are designed to recognise and reward outstanding achievement in the garden design profession. They are the only Awards dedicated solely to landscape and garden design in the UK.
The shortlisted Garden Company projects are:
Laurel Cottage in Northwest London – shortlisted in the Small Residential category, this garden was designed to add extra ‘living/entertainment’ potential to the house. The newly-created garden was a tranquil oasis in a suburban setting, with flow and connection from the house into the garden, attractive terraces and a timber walkway leading into the foliage-covered space. A granite water feature and subtle light fittings provided extra visual interest and a relaxed atmosphere.
The Threshing Barn in Hertfordshire – shortlisted in the Medium Residential category, this is a contemporary meadow garden for a modern barn set on top of the Chiltern Hills. A sense of sanctuary was required around the house whilst maintaining a visual connection with the surrounding farmland. A meadow using native calcareous wildflower species provided a connection to the countryside, with a vegetable garden, herb garden and orchard added for the clients’ use.
